The main character is Ryu Hayabusa. Ryu has the same appearance of his black leather outfit as from the previous Ninja Gaiden, but in recent screens shots he has been seen with a new metallic black suit. There are a few visible differences, one is his toes are now covered with metal which could be used for his new Kunai climb.
In the game spot video, Ryu is given a request from the Japanese Self-Defense Force Ministry of External Affairs, where he is sent to London to fight an unidentified terrorist. After his encounter with the terrorist, he faces the regent of the mask, who kills the Prime Minister. After the battle, the mysterious opponent tells Ryu to "open (his)eyes" and the Dragon Sword is absorbed into his right arm. Ryu escapes missles firing at him and is picked up by Defense Forces. In the end cutscene, the mysterious hooded opponent appears on the news forecasting that every country in the world must agree to his surrender in 7 days, or will result in immediate destruction.
