Michael K. Williams Will Join Cast In 'Twelve Years A Slave'
Michael K. Williams will be cast in 'Twelve Years A Slave,' a film directed by Steve McQueen. The film, which is presently in production, is an autobiography written in 1853 of Solomon Northup. Northup lived a life of a free black man in New York before being drugged, kidnapped and taken to the south where he was sold and forced to remain a slave for twelve years. Williams plays the role of Robert, a rebellious slave. Deadline reports.

Williams has risen to a higher standard and gained much recognition particularly with his portrayal of Omar Little in the acclaimed HBO series, The Wire. Some of his other acting roles were characters he portrayed in the films, The Road, Brooklyn's Finest, Miracle at St. Anna, and Cookout 2.
